Grand rapids film festival

GRAPHIC DESIGN | ILLUSTRATION

Every year the Grand Rapids Film festival hosts an event, the 36-Hour Challenge, in which filmmakers have just hours to complete and edit a short film to be submitted and judged for a prize. The finalists of which would be open for viewing at the local Celebration Cinema theater.

In working with GRFF, my task was to create an identity for that years event. The identity would then be used across all media to promote the upcoming event. As the Grand Rapids Film Festival themselves had recently rebranded to a more modern clean look, I utilized those same lines and shapes to create imagery that reflected that look but also represented the challenge itself.
This identity has since been used for several years since its creation in 2016 to represent the film challenge.

Color selection utilizes a deeper but bold attention snairing yellow to reflect energy, and air of confidence, bold paired with more toned down greys reminiscent of those found in the mechanics own toolbox
